Professor Rohan Lucas is a Senior Academic in Electrical Engineering who obtained his first degree from the University of Ceylon Peradeniya and the postgraduate degrees from the prestigious UMIST in Manchester UK. He has over 35 years of postdoctoral experience in teaching, research and professional experience, in Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, Canada and NewZealand.

A researcher in the area of power system analysis, modelling and simulation for over 40 years, has published over 60 papers in international and local journals. He has co-authored 10 text-books in Electrical Engineering topics for the Open University of Sri Lanka. Has extensive experience in the use of PSCAD/EMTDC (transient simulation and analysis package) with the current-transformer model developed been included as a feature 'Lucas model' in PSCAD. A team leader with over 20 years in departmental level administration, has risen to the top rungs of the Electrical Engineering Profession in Sri Lanka and has completed a two year term as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Branch of the prestigious Institution of Electrical Engineers (UK). He is an international professional engineer and has undertaken many industrial consultancy assignments in Sri Lanka. He will be retiring on 30th September this year.
